Vince Carter scored 19 points and Dwight Howard recorded a double-double as the Orlando Magic led wire-to-wire and topped the visiting Memphis Grizzlies 89-72 on Monday night.

Carter took just eight shots, but made 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and Howard had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the enigmatic Magic, who avoided their first three-game home losing streak since Dec. 7. Orlando narrowly beat the New Jersey Nets on Saturday after embarrassing home losses to Utah and struggling Toronto.

In a sloppy first half that featured 27 turnovers – 10 by each team in the first period - Orlando made its last five shots of the half, including a 3-pointer by Carter, for a 47-34 lead.

Memphis pulled within 51-46 on a jumper by Mike Conley early in the third before Carter knocked down a wing 3-pointer and another jumper over a two-minute span to rebuild a 60-48 edge. Memphis never threatened thereafter.

Memphis forward Rudy Gay, who entered averaging 25.6 points on 51 percent shooting, missed his first nine attempts and finished 4-of-17 for nine points.

Marc Gasol had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Grizzlies, who shot just 36.3 percent and lost their third straight.
